Signature Generator Online: Create a Signature from Your Name

Type your surname and first name, and the generator writes them as a handwritten signature in twelve variants: the full name, the surname with an initial, initials only, or a single letter with a pen stroke. Choose a variant, press Play the writing to watch it being written, and download it as a PNG with a transparent background, a JPG, a WebP or a short WebM video. If you prefer your own hand, the Draw tab gives you a pad to sign with a mouse, a finger or a stylus. Everything runs in your browser, so the name you type never leaves your computer.

How to make a signature

  1. Enter the surname and the first name. The middle name is optional and is used for the initials.
  2. Choose a style: any, short and simple, or full, and the color of the pen.
  3. Press Create signatures. The button More variants makes a new set from the same name.
  4. Click the variant you like. It opens in the big window above, where you can play the writing.
  5. Download the result in the format you need.

No name in mind?

To try the tool or to make a mock-up you do not need a real name. Take a made-up one from the Random Full Name Generator, type it here and see how the signature looks.

What kinds of signatures it makes

  • Full name and surname only: the classic variant, sometimes with a bigger first letter.
  • Surname with an initial (Smith J. or J. Smith): short and quick to write.
  • Initials and one letter with a pen stroke: the easiest signatures to repeat.
  • Pen strokes: an underline, a swoosh, a loop, a line through the name or a double line. The handwriting fonts and the slant change from variant to variant.

How to choose a signature that you can repeat

A good signature is one that you write in a second and make almost the same every time. Pick a short variant, copy it on paper a few times and simplify the lines that slow your hand. Stay with the version that comes out the same without thinking about it. A signature in a passport, a contract or a bank card is the one that you put by hand with your own pen. The generator gives you ideas to practise and a picture for other uses.

Where a signature picture can be used

A PNG with a transparent background is used in mock-ups, presentations, letters, PDF forms and documents where an image of a signature is accepted. Keep in mind that a picture of a signature is not a qualified electronic signature: it has no cryptographic protection and does not replace one when the law or a contract requires it.

The animation of the writing

The button Play the writing shows how the signature appears: the name is written from left to right and then the pen stroke is drawn. The same animation can be saved as a WebM video for a presentation or a video. The button is shown when your browser can record video from the page; the file plays in Chrome, Firefox and Edge, and a video editor may need to convert it.

Draw your own signature

The Draw tab is a pad for a signature made by hand. Choose the color, sign, use Undo to remove the last stroke or Clear to start again, and download the result as SVG, PNG, JPG or WebP. The picture is made in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is the signature generator free? Yes. It is free and needs no registration.

Is my name stored or sent to a server? No. The signatures are made in your browser from fonts that are loaded with the page.

Does it work with names in other alphabets? Yes, the handwriting fonts have Latin and Cyrillic letters, so names such as Ivanov Ivan and Иванов Иван both work.

Why are the variants different every time? The font, the slant, the size and the pen stroke are chosen at random. Press More variants as many times as you like.

Are the fonts free to use? The handwriting fonts come from Google Fonts and are published under the SIL Open Font License; the signatures made with them can be used freely.
