Emoji Picker: Copy and Paste Emojis and Count the Characters of Your Post

Write a post for Telegram, Facebook, Instagram or any other place, and add emojis to it with one click. All the emojis are in one list with a search, the text box stays at the top of the screen while you look through them, and a counter shows how close you are to the limit of the network. Everything happens in your browser: nothing you write is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Type your text in the box at the top, or leave it empty.
  2. Find an emoji: choose a category, or type a word in the search ("heart", "fire", "birthday", "cat").
  3. Click an emoji to put it into the text where the cursor is. If you only need one emoji, choose "Click: copy the emoji" and it goes to the clipboard at once.
  4. Press Copy and paste the post into Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or an email.

Why some emojis show as an empty box

New emojis are added every year, and a phone or a computer can show only the ones it knows. An emoji that is too new appears as an empty square or a question mark. It is the device of the reader that decides, not the network: the same post can look fine on a new phone and broken on an old one. This is why the list has a filter "Up to Emoji ...". It hides the emojis that were added after the version you choose (the year is next to the version). The default is Emoji 14.0 from 2021, which most devices in use can show. Choose an older version to be safer, or "All emoji" if you write for people with new phones. Each emoji has its version in the hint when you hold the mouse over it.

Skin tones

Hands and people can have five skin tones. Choose a tone with the round buttons, and all the emojis that can change are shown and inserted with it.

Character counter and limits

The counter shows the characters of your post as a person sees them, so a family or a flag is one character, and also the words and the number of emojis. Choose a network, and the bar shows how much is left. The limits are in the table under the list: for example 4,096 characters for a Telegram message, 1,024 for a Telegram caption under a photo, 2,200 for an Instagram caption and 280 for a post on X. The networks count in their own way (X counts an emoji as two characters), so the counter is a guide. Most feeds also show only the beginning of a long post, so put the important part first.

Add a text to the end of the post

If you end every post with the same hashtags or a signature, write them once in the field "Add a text to the end of the post". When the option is on, the text is added after an empty line every time you copy, and the counter includes it. The text is kept in your browser.

Unicode and HTML code of an emoji

When you click an emoji, its name, its Unicode code (for example U+1F600) and its HTML code (😀) are shown under the list, together with the words people search it by. The HTML code is useful when you put an emoji into a web page.

Limitations

  • The list has the emojis of the Unicode standard up to version 17.0. Stickers, GIFs and the animated emojis of Telegram Premium are not Unicode characters, so they are not here and cannot be copied as text.
  • On Windows computers the flags are often shown as two letters. The text is still a flag, and it is drawn as a flag on phones and in apps that have their own emojis.
  • The names and the search words are in English.
  • The draft is kept only in this browser. If you clear the data of the site, it is gone.
  • To remove emojis from a text, use the emoji remover.
