Fancy Text Generator: Cursive Text and Fonts to Copy and Paste

Type a text, and this page writes it in more than twenty styles at once: cursive, Old English, bold, italic, bubbles, squares, wide letters, small capitals, upside down, strikethrough, underline and more. Press Copy next to the style you like and paste it into the bio of Instagram, a Telegram message, a Discord name, a post on Facebook or X, or a comment. Everything happens in your browser, so your text is never sent to a server.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your text in the box. It starts with the words "Cursive text" so you can see the styles at once.
  2. Look at the list. Use the buttons of the groups (Cursive, Old English, Bubbles and others) to show only one kind.
  3. Choose a frame if you want one, for example a star on each side or a text face, and the frame is added to every style.
  4. Press Copy and paste the result where you need it.

What is cursive text, and is it a font?

It is not a font. Unicode, the standard that gives a code to every character of every program, has a block called "Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols" with whole alphabets written in different shapes: bold, italic, script, Fraktur (the shape that people call Old English), double-struck and monospace. They were made for mathematics, but they are ordinary characters, so they can be copied and pasted anywhere that shows text, with no font to install. This is also why they look different on different devices: the shape comes from the font that the device uses for these characters.

The same text in some of the styles:

  • Cursive script: 𝒞𝓊𝓇𝓈𝒾𝓋ℯ 𝓉ℯ𝓍𝓉 and bold 𝓒𝓾𝓻𝓼𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝓽𝓮𝔁𝓽
  • Old English: ℭ𝔲𝔯𝔰𝔦𝔳𝔢 𝔱𝔢𝔵𝔱
  • Bold: 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭
  • Double-struck: ℂ𝕦𝕣𝕤𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝕥𝕖𝕩𝕥
  • Bubbles: Ⓒⓤⓡⓢⓘⓥⓔ ⓣⓔⓧⓣ
  • Small capitals: ᴄᴜʀꜱɪᴠᴇ ᴛᴇxᴛ
  • Upside down: ʇxǝʇ ǝʌᴉsɹnƆ
  • Strikethrough: C̶u̶r̶s̶i̶v̶e̶ t̶e̶x̶t̶

Where it works

These characters usually work in posts, captions, bios, comments and chat messages of Instagram, Telegram, Discord, Facebook, X, TikTok and YouTube comments, because they only need to accept Unicode text. Places that allow only plain letters will not take them: usernames, handles, email addresses, domain names and passwords. Some sites remove or change them, and some old phones and computers show an empty box instead of a letter, because their fonts do not have that character. If you see boxes in the list, that style is not for your device or for the people who use a similar one.

Strikethrough, underline and other lines

The styles in the group "Lines" put a small mark after every character: a line through it, under it, over it or a slash. They are not separate letters, so they work with any alphabet, Cyrillic included. In some apps the line is a little shifted or breaks between the letters, that depends on the font.

Frames and decorations

A frame adds signs before and after the text: stars, hearts, flowers, brackets or a whole text face like (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧. For more of them, take an emoji from the emoji picker, a text face from the kaomoji list, or let the emoji translator turn the words of a sentence into emoji.

Cyrillic and other alphabets

Unicode has these styles only for Latin letters and digits. There is no cursive or Old English for Russian, Ukrainian or Greek letters, so such letters stay as they are. If you switch on "Write Cyrillic letters with Latin ones first", the text is turned into Latin letters (Дмитрий becomes Dmitriy, Щука becomes Shchuka) and then written in the style. The group "Lines" works with every alphabet without that.

Think before you use it

  • Screen readers. A person who uses a screen reader may hear these characters as "mathematical bold small a" or hear nothing, so do not write important things in them: prices, contacts, addresses, instructions.
  • Search. Search engines and the search inside an app usually do not find fancy letters when you type plain ones. A name in cursive may not be found by its owner.
  • Mixing. A word where letters are written in different styles is still a word to the eye, but copying it into a form, a file name or a code may fail.

How to turn fancy text back into plain text

If you got a text in fancy letters and need it plain, paste it into the emoji remover and switch on "Turn fancy letters into normal ones". It also removes strikethrough and underline marks.

Limitations

  • Only the Latin letters A-Z, a-z and (in some styles) the digits change. Accents, punctuation and other alphabets stay as they are, except where a style says otherwise.
  • Some styles have gaps in Unicode. In the small capitals the q is a different letter (ǫ) and the x stays a plain x, and the squares and the dark bubbles have capital letters only.
  • The glitch style adds random marks every time, so the result is different on each press.
  • The text is not saved. Only your choice of the group and the frame stays in this browser.
