WebP to JPG, PNG & PDF Converter
Free WebP to JPG Converter (and WebP to PNG and PDF)
Convert WebP images to JPG, PNG or PDF right in your browser. Add one picture or a whole folder, choose the format and download the results one by one, as a ZIP archive, or as a single PDF with one image per page. Your files are never uploaded.
How to convert WebP to JPG
- Drop your WebP files into the box above, click it to choose files, or paste a copied image with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac).
- Choose JPG, PNG or PDF. For JPG and PDF set the quality (90–95 keeps the picture practically unchanged) and the background color for transparent areas.
- Optionally limit the width to 1920, 1280 or 800 pixels.
- Download each file, all of them as a ZIP, or, for PDF, everything combined into one document.
JPG, PNG or PDF: which format to choose?
- WebP to JPG is the most compatible choice for photos: every phone, computer, editor, website and messenger accepts JPG. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the color you pick (white by default).
- WebP to PNG keeps transparency and every pixel exactly as decoded. Choose it for logos, icons, screenshots and graphics you want to edit. PNG files of photos are usually much larger than JPG.
- WebP to PDF is handy for documents, receipts, scans and portfolios that need to be printed, emailed or uploaded to a form that only accepts PDF. The page can match the image size or be A4 or Letter, with the picture centered and never enlarged.
Why do images download as WebP, and how to save them as JPG?
Many websites, online shops and CDNs send images as WebP because the files are smaller, so Save image as stores a .webp file even if the picture was uploaded as JPG or PNG. Browsers have no built-in setting to save such images as JPG. The simple way is to save the WebP and convert it here; the conversion takes a second and keeps the full resolution.
Renaming a .webp file to .jpg does not convert it. The content stays WebP, and some programs then refuse to open the “broken” JPG. This tool reads the real format from the file itself and marks images that are WebP inside despite a .jpg or .png name, then converts them properly.
Other ways to convert WebP to JPG
- Windows: open the WebP in Paint and choose File → Save as → JPEG picture (older Windows builds may need the free Webp Image Extensions from the Microsoft Store).
- Mac: open the file in Preview and choose File → Export, then JPEG, PNG or PDF.
- iPhone and iPad: open this page in Safari, select the images from Photos or Files and download the JPG files; they are saved to Files or Downloads.
- Photoshop and GIMP: both open WebP and can export JPG or PNG.
An online converter is faster when you have many files or no editor at hand, and this one also keeps your images private.
Quality and file size
WebP compresses better than JPG, so the converted JPG is often larger than the WebP even at the same visual quality. This is normal. The quality slider controls the trade-off: 92 is the default, lower values give smaller files with more compression artifacts. PNG is lossless and has no quality setting.
Transparency and animation
Transparent WebP images stay transparent when converted to PNG. For JPG and PDF the transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose. Animated WebP files are converted using their first frame, and the tool marks them.
Privacy: your images stay on your device
The browser decodes the WebP and creates the JPG, PNG or PDF locally; nothing is sent to a server. EXIF metadata, GPS location and camera details are not copied into the converted files.
Frequently asked questions
Is this WebP to JPG converter free?
Yes, without registration, watermarks or a limit on the number of files. Each file can be up to 50 MB and 50 megapixels.
Does converting WebP to JPG lose quality?
Every JPG save is a lossy compression, but at a quality of 90–95 the difference is not visible. If you need the exact pixels, convert to PNG.
Can I convert several WebP files at once?
Yes. Add as many files as you like and download them as a ZIP archive, or combine them into one multi-page PDF in the order shown in the list.
Can I convert other images to JPG, PNG or PDF?
Yes. JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP and AVIF files are accepted too if your browser can open them, for example to put several JPG photos into one PDF. For AVIF there is also a dedicated AVIF to JPG converter with tips about the format.
How do I convert JPG or PNG to WebP?
Use the WebP converter: it creates WebP files with the official libwebp encoder, with lossy and lossless modes and a before/after comparison. To make images lighter without changing the format, try the Image optimizer.
